This text is over a thousand pages long. It is actually "Biographical and historical memoirs of Mississippi, Vol. II" of two volumes. This second volume has detailed and important information, with somewhat clear and relatively accessible writing, about many of the towns of Mississippi, at 1891. It's detailed index makes it especially helpful. Writings from this book have gone up on responsible genealogy sites for Mississippi, and they are well respected.
It also has chapters about religion, organizations, rail road, other aspects of the state's history.
Volume I of this series doesn't appear available at this time. A copy is for sale a amazon, for big bucks. I can't wait to find it once it is at
archive.org. Vol. I addresses the county history.
Thanks,
archive.org for making these books available. I just donated to this important and nonprofit cause last night.
